COMMENTARY FROM THE SECRETARY

THE DIVAN SHOWED UP IN FORCE - We had a great turn out for our Board Meeting last week at JJ’s.  In addition we were honored by several members of the Divan and their Ladies.  Chief Rabban Jim Brandenburg and his Lady Louise, Oriental Guide Dennis Kelley, Sr. and his Lady Kathy, 1st Ceremonial Master Davis Dieckhaus and his Lady Christine and 2nd Ceremonial Master Vic Dane and his Lady Ann.  What an honor and privilege to have such a huge show of support from our Divan.  Illustrious Sir Bill was planning to attend but he was in the hospital.  He sends his regards and promises join us for one of our dinners when he is feeling better.

CLUB BUSINESS - President Bob Holscher is planning to spend as much time as he can squeeze in at his place at the Lake of the Ozarks this summer.  If there is any club business that needs to be taken care of during the summer, please contact Mark Rethemeyer at 314-921-4873.

OUR ANNUAL PICNIC IS THIS SUNDAY - JUNE 6th

We are going back to Blanchette Park – Pavilion #1.  We were at Blanchette a few years ago and everyone had a great time!  We will supply the meat, plates, utensils, and napkins.  Our Master Chef Ken Zesch is back this year so you know the food will be GREAT!!!  Ken is preparing Hot Dogs and Hamburgers so we need your reservation!  Directions from I-70:  Take the 5th street exit.  Go NORTH for 1.7 miles.  Turn LEFT onto Randolph.  Travel a couple of blocks and there is a jog to the right.  Randolph becomes W. UPCOMING PARADES – PLAN TO RIDE THE WAGON

SATURDAY, JUNE 19th – ST. PETERS PARADE –   Line-up is at 8:00 at Mid Rivers Mall parking lot, and the parade starts promptly at 9:00.  If you want to leave your vehicle at the Amvets – plan to meet on the Amvets parking lot at 7:30.  This is generally a great parade with a lot of spectators, and we have a great time.  Following the parade we go to the Amvets in St. Peters for lunch and fellowship.  We are generally joined by YOMO, Gateway 500, Drum Corp and a few other Moolah Units.  It is a great way to kill time and let the traffic clear.  We get paid for participating in this parade, so please RSVP with VP Ron Burt at 636-922-5782.

SATURDAY, JULY 3rd – O’FALLON PARADE –   Line-up is at 8:30 at 3rd and Main in O’Fallon and the parade starts at 9:30.  If you want to carpool just let our VP Ron Burt know when you sign up.  We get paid for participating in this parade, so please RSVP with VP Ron Burt at 636-922-5782.

ANNUAL CAR SHOW - SEPT 26TH

Our Car Show is fast approaching and we need donations for door prizes.  I included the donation letter in last months newsletter but if you need another copy just let Mark Rethemeyer know and he will get you a copy.  It is extremely important that everyone gets involved in getting donations.  All you need to do is to keep a few copies of the donation letter in your car so they are handy, and whenever you go into a business (Banks, Dry Cleaners, Auto Parts, Jewelry Stores, Grocery Stores, Auto Repair, Restaurants, Florists, and anywhere else that you stop) – take in the donation letter and ask for a donation.  It doesn’t have to be “cash” it can be product donations or gift certificates.  One thing for sure, if you don’t ask – you won’t get anything.

Our primary way of advertising is to hand out our car show flyers at other car shows.  We need some able bodies to help with this task.  There are car shows almost every weekend, and all you need to do would be to walk around and put one of our flyers in each car at that show.  We will provide the flyers – we just need help passing them out!  If you can help please contact our Car Show chairman Mark Rethemeyer at 314-921-4873.

On the day of the car show we will need as much help as we can get starting at 8:00 in the morning.  Just come to the O’Fallon Plaza at 8:00 and we’ll have plenty for you to do.

UPCOMING BOARD MEETINGS AT JJ's IN O'FALLON, MO

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE A DINNER OR BOARD MEETING IN JULY

Our next Board Meeting will be on June 24th

There will NOT be a July Board Meeting.

CONCERNS & JOYS

ILLUSTRIOUS SIR BILL DRAKE – UPDATE – As most everyone knows, Illustrious Sir Bill has been in the hospital for the past week or so.  His lungs were filling up with liquid making it hard for him to breathe.  At first the doctors thought it was his heart while other doctors though it may be something else.  They didn’t know what else so for the past week they have been running tests (similar to experiments with a guinea pig).  And at this time it appears that the doctors “may have, possibly” come to a consensus.  A bad case of pneumonia causing his lungs to fill up to where he was having trouble breathing.  As of this writing he is still in St. Anthony’s hospital being treated for pneumonia and hopes to be home by this weekend.  If you want to send a card I am sure he would appreciate it.

PP STEVE PIEPER – UPDATE – Our Administrator Steve Pieper is back in the office this week.  He isn’t feeling 100%, but he said he feels well enough to go back to work.  Keep Steve in your thoughts and prayers.

Our sympathy and prayers go out to any of our members who are experiencing concerns.  If you are aware of a member or a member’s family experiencing concerns, please call Bob Holscher at 636-240-8552, or Don Close at 636-240-4452.
